Recently the news reported that the Thunder Falls Waterslide tower at Wildwater Kingdom was torn down. There wasn’t much activity at Wildwater Kingdom for the first year after it closed and when you drove down State Route 43 (the road that runs along the historic Geauga Lake and SeaWorld parks) you could still get a good view of the waterslide. Thunder Falls was the tallest water slide in Ohio for more than a decade.
At the Geauga Lake Historical Marker ceremony this fall, I spoke with a few folks about the plans for the waterslides. Apparently, the cost to move Thunder Falls was hundreds of thousands of dollars and there was no park willing to invest that much in the old slide tower. Check the internet if you want to see video of the demolition. You won’t see any of that here at Friends of the Whale.
